World Series of Poker 2009

T. J. Cloutier

T.J. Cloutier Initially, T J Cloutier did not want to be a poker player. He wished to be a part of football or baseball world. However, his knee injury meant that he had to leave the game and move to playing poker as a professional. He even quit his job after realizing that there was more money in the game than toiling hard at work.

Born on October 13, 1939, T.J. Cloutier was a Texas native. He graduated from the Jefferson High School of Daly City, CA. In his high school days, he was an excellent athlete and an active part of his high school's football, basketball and baseball teams. Due to his prowess in the game, he earned a scholarship for Berkeley's University of California. He even ran his family wholesale business of food. However, it was shut down once he started playing poker. He found out that playing full-time poker earned him more than what his actual job did.

Cloutier is the player in the WSOP history to have been victorious is 3 different types of Omaha, which are played in the World Series - Limit High, Pot Limit High and the Limit 8-or-Better High Low Splits. Till date, he has accumulated a splendid amount of over USD 9.7 millions from the game. His career has seen him win around 60 major events in different corners of the globe. His victory includes 6 WSOP bracelets. Looking at these figures, there is no doubt that you can count Cloutier as one of the best players to have played the game. For his efforts towards the game and his career winnings, he got inducted in the 2006 Poker Hall of Fame.

Currently, Cloutier is living with his wife in Richardson. He is a legend of the game. Players like, Mansour Matloubi (1990 WSOP Winner), believe that when it comes to no-limit events, there is no one better than TJ.
