We adore the World Series of Poker every single year, and after visiting Las Vegas to attend the event in 2009, we decided to create a fan site celebrating the game, and the series of tournaments. Browse around, and we'll give you all the info we have on the hottest series of poker tournaments around in 2009.

John Juanda

John Juanda is a professional poker player. John Juanda was born in Medan, Indonesia on July 8, 1971. While he may have been born and raised in Indonesia he is actually ethnically Chinese.

John Juanda Poker Pro In 1990 is when John Juanda came to the United States of America. He came to America when he enrolled in the Oklahoma State University. John earned a MBA from another University, the Seattle University.

When John Juanda was in High school he liked to run track. Running track was one of the things he was good at and liked to do. He was actually a track star in events anywhere from the 200 meter sprints to the 5000 meter races. For a little while John Juanda also was a door to door salesmen of Bibles.

One of John Juanda's jobs he wanted to do was to be a doctor. He did not at first intend on being a professional poker player for a living. He said that if he did not get involved in professional poker that he would have been a doctor today.

It was 6 years after John moved to the United States before he started to get involved in professional poker. In 1996 he John Juanda started to play in poker tournaments. While he was a good poker player it was several years later before he had any big victory. In 2001 John Juanda had a major victory when he won the World Poker Open Championship. This was just the beginning of a great professional poker career for John, often quoting special poker discussions with fellow pros like Daniel Negreanu, Erick Lindgren and Allen Cunningham as a reason for his success.

John Juanda kept getting better at playing poker as time went on. In 2001 and 2002 he was runner up for the Card Player's Tournament Player of the Year award. In 2002 he also won his very first World Series of Poker bracelet. Another big accomplishment John Juanda made in 2002 was when he was named Tournament Champion of the Year. In John's career he has also won three Best All-Around Player awards.

John Juanda has been doing good every since. In 2004 when the first Professional Poker Tour event was held John Juanda won it. During 2004 John also made it to amazing 14 other final poker game tables.

John Juanda won 5th place in both the National Heads-Up Poker Championship and the Five-Star World Poker Classic in 2005. In 2006 when the Crown Australian Poker Championship took place again John won it and the 1,000,000 Australian Dollar prize for coming in first.

Also in 2006 John won several games of poker in Monte Carlo. He placed 6th place in the Monte Carlo Millions Main Event, The FullTiltPoker.Net Invitational Live, he won 2nd place and the Monte Carlo Millions Consolation Tournament which he won 1st place. His total winnings for all these games a a cool $500,000.

John Juanda has made it to 6 World Poker Tour final tables but sadly he has never won any of them so he does not have a World Poker Tour title. Regardless John is still a amazingly good professional poker player.
